Sugar is Poison.

Sugar is not classified as a “poison” because of semantics and profit. Technically, sugar is classified as a nutrient because your body can metabolize it and use it for energy. Our bodies need glucose ( a simple sugar), our brains, muscles and organs all use glucose, without it, we would parish. However, our body makes all the glucose we need from protein and fat ( via gluconeogenesis).

Sugar is

  • ADDICTIVE- Hijacks dopamine in the brain like a drug.

  • CORROSIVE- Inflames tissues, rusts proteins through glycation, and eats away at cartiladge and blood vessels.

  • DISEASE FEEDING- Diabetes, Cancer, Heart Disease, Joint Pain, Arthritis, and Alzheimers can all be side effects, or caused by excess sugar within the body.

What is Glycation? Excess sugar in the body binds to proteins and fats creating Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). These AGEs stiffen collagen, Cartilage, and joint tissue. They act like rust inside your body, accelerating arthritis, wrinkling skin, and damaging blood vessels.

Yes, whole foods ( Fruits) have sugar too. However, that sugar is wrapped in fibre and nutrients so the body handles it slower.

  • Palm Sugar/ Coconut Sugar ( same b blood sugar hit)

  • Honey, Maple Syrup, Date Syrup ( still sugar in the body)

Sugar Alcohols- Marketed as “safe”, but some side effects can include; bloating, gas, diarrhea, cramps ( can trigger IBS symptoms as it ferments in the colon), blood clot risks, toxic to pets. They still stress the gut and can fuel inflammation.
